Specialist expertise for decisions that need to stand up to review
EM provides specialist stormwater quality, monitoring and compliance input where site conditions, environmental obligations and the evidence need to be considered together.

-
We connect consent conditions and site risks with the question the monitoring needs to answer. Event criteria, access, sampling methods and laboratory requirements are considered together, helping avoid missed opportunities and data that cannot support the intended decision.
-
Rainfall, site activity, sampling conditions and treatment configuration can all affect interpretation. We assess the results in context, select appropriate comparisons and explain the basis for the recommended response.
-
Experience in regional regulation and council asset management helps us recognise what reviewers need and what delivery involves. We use that understanding to focus technical discussions, coordinate the right input and reduce avoidable rework.

Experience behind the judgement
Experience behind the judgement
EM’s technical leadership brings the following experience from earlier council, industry and laboratory roles.
Regional environmental regulation
Auditing construction and stormwater discharge consents, leading an erosion and sediment-control campaign, delivering technical training and responding to pollution incidents.
Council surface-water delivery
Managing a surface-water maintenance contract and township flood-relief projects, with contributions to stormwater planning, bylaws and engineering standards.
Industry and laboratory practice
Leading environmental and quality-assurance work in manufacturing, developing monitoring dashboards and corrective-action systems, and working across chemistry and microbiology laboratories.

A clear trail from sample to decision
Field records, sample identifiers, laboratory results and analysis are organised so the evidence can be followed and checked.
This helps protect the value of the monitoring, supports efficient review and gives project teams a record they can use again for reporting, follow-up work and future comparisons.

Plan sampling before the rain

The URPS sampler range allows compatible stormwater sumps to be set up for passive sampling ahead of forecast rainfall.
Developed by Earth Measure from field experience, the design uses a reusable frame and removable sample bottles, with no power supply or pump.

Stormwater events can be short, localised and difficult to attend. EM developed the URPS (Urban Runoff Passive Stormwater) sampler so compatible sites can be prepared ahead of rain, with samples retrieved afterwards.
The development connects monitoring design, controlled testing, fabrication and field deployment. It shows how EM can work through a monitoring problem from the scientific question to the equipment used on site.
